Florida Poker Rooms Welcome WSOP Circuit, WPT And More In October

The weather might be cooling down, but Florida poker remains as hot as ever.

October welcomes the return of major series such as the World Series of Poker Circuit, World Poker Tour and Moneymaker Tour. Florida poker tournaments from these festivals and other standalone events exceed $3.8 million in guarantees for the month.

If larger buy-in events or traveling are not your thing, more than 20 rooms across the state offer daily tournaments. Either way, we’ve got you covered with the full list of Florida’s October poker tournaments below.

(There are no real-money sites in the state, but for those looking for Florida online poker, there are sweepstakes sites that offer tournaments as well. This story, however, will focus on live poker tournaments.)

October 2023 Florida live poker tournaments

October’s tournament poker calendar has events all month, including the end of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Everglades Poker Open, which runs through Oct. 1.

Millions more in guarantees follow throughout the month. Keep reading to see what else is in store.

Early October events

Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek feature the month’s first multi-flight, large-guarantee events.

Seminole Coco’s $200 buy-in $100K guarantee has 10 starting flights across Oct. 2-7. Day 2 is on Sunday, Oct. 8.

That same weekend, Daytona’s $365 GAPT Fall Deep Stack runs from Thursday, Oct. 5, through Monday, Oct. 9, with a $200K guarantee. Thursday through Saturday have three starting flights, giving players six chances to advance to Sunday’s Day 2.

The final table takes place on Monday the 9th and will be live-streamed on the Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club YouTube channel.

Harrah’s Pompano Beach hosts WSOP Circuit stop

The WSOP Circuit returns to Harrah’s Pompano Beach from Oct. 12 to Oct. 23 and will once again be one of the best stops on tour, with more than $2.7 million guaranteed across 16 events.

Major events include:

• Event #2: $500,000 Guaranteed ($600 buy-in, four starting flights), runs Oct. 12-15.
• Event #5: $300,000 Guaranteed Mystery Bounty ($1,100 buy-in, two starting flights), runs Oct. 15-17.
• Event #7: $200,000 Guaranteed Monster Stack ($400 buy-in, two starting flights), runs Oct. 17-19.
• Event #10: $1 Million Guaranteed Main Event ($1,700 buy-in, three starting flights), runs Oct. 19-23.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa’s Pinktober Poker Open

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa continues to run head-turning poker series, and October’s will do so again for multiple reasons. The annual Pinktober Poker Open runs from Oct. 18-30 and features $400,000 worth of guarantees.

The series has eight events, and a portion of all buy-ins will support breast cancer research. Primary events include:

• Event 1: $100,000 Guaranteed ($200 buy-in, six starting flights), runs Oct. 18-22.
• Event 3: $50,000 Guaranteed ($400 buy-in, three starting flights) runs Oct. 23-25.
• Event 5: $200,000 Guaranteed Championship Event ($1,100 buy-in, three starting flights), runs Oct. 26-29.

World Poker Tour highlights bestbet’s action

The World Poker Tour heads to bestbet Jacksonville for the return of its popular Scramble festival, headlined by a $5,000 Main Event and a $1,700 Mystery Bounty in November.

However, the opening event runs from Oct. 26-29, featuring a $4,000 buy-in with a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. The event has six starting flights, three per day, before the field combines and plays to a winner on the final day.

As usual, bestbet’s other two locations also have monthly events.

• Orange Park’s GOPO 400 runs on Saturday, Oct. 14, with a $400 buy-in and $40K guarantee.
• St. Augustine’s StAC ($300 buy-in) is a multi-day $100K event this time around, running from Oct. 19-22. The event has five starting flights over the first three days.

Moneymaker Tour returns for October-November stop

Like the WPT, the Moneymaker Tour returns to Florida for a two-week series that spans into November. Palm Beach Kennel Club will host the stop from Oct. 25 through Nov. 6, running 27 tournaments with over $650,000 in guarantees.

The opening week features several mixed-game events, like HORSE (Oct. 25), Omaha Hi/Lo (Oct. 26) and a three-game PLO mix (Oct. 28).

No-Limit Hold’em players have the spotlight still, though, with a $500 buy-in event that features a $200,000 guarantee. This event has eight starting flights between the 25th and 28th, with Day 2 on Sunday the 29th.

September Florida tournament results

September proved another solid month for Florida poker players, with significant prizes awarded at numerous venues. The Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Signature Poker Series produced some of the largest winners.

• Mike Phillips topped a field of 778 in the $1,700 Main Event ($1 Million guaranteed) to win the top prize of $207,280.
• Willie Wiggins took down the opening event of the series, a $400 ($1 Million guaranteed) 3,788-entry tournament. His $163,290 outright win was the second-best score of his career.
• Jimmy Tomblin bested a 973-entry field in the $200 ($100K guaranteed) event and won $28,850.
• AJ Kelsall added to his South Florida poker trophy collection with a victory in the $1,100 six-max event, outlasting 108 entries to win $28,420.
• Joe Serock won the largest buy-in event of the series, the $3,500 Signature NLH, good for $45,630.

Major winners elsewhere in the state included:

• Per Instagram, Michael “Gascard” C won The Win! Derby Fall $250K “Win!fall” event for just shy of $70,000.
• The Palm Beach Kennel Club Monthly $100K resulted in a three-way chop from a field of 743, with Premod Pandey, Lance Thompson and Kevin Paquette each earning $25,625.
• Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood’s all-time in-the-money leader, Raminder Singh, won Event #1 of the Everglades Poker Open via a six-way deal for $17,990. (The Main Event runs into October, and we will publish results in next month’s edition.)
• bestbet Jacksonville’s end-of-month $100K also ended with a three-way chop. Joseph Burns ($28,000) came out on top, ahead of Maheshwar Linga ($19,265) and local legend Eddy Mroczkowski ($19,264).
• Shane Scorza took down the bestbet Orange Park GOPO 400, topping a field of 227 to win $17,065.
• Justin Bold and Jermaine “Lion” Gerlin chopped the bestbet St. Augustine $30K, each earning just north of $13,000 for their efforts.

Daily tournaments run throughout the week at Florida Poker Rooms. These events usually finish in a matter of hours and offer smaller buy-ins than major tournament series.
