With the World Series of Poker firmly behind us, Florida poker rooms are taking the spotlight in August with some of the largest tournaments in the world. At least eight rooms are running events with $100,000 prize pools or greater, with more than $10 million guaranteed to be up for grabs.
The annual Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood headlines the list of August Florida poker tournaments. The series makes up for over three-quarters of all guarantees across the state, including multiple seven-figure events like the $5,300 Main Event, which boasts a $3 million guaranteed prize pool.
Other events include the Harrah’s Pompano Beach Florida State Poker Championship, a CardPlayer Poker Tour stop at bestbet Jacksonville and the Moneymaker Tour at Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club.
Florida’s 20 poker rooms also run daily tournaments on the regular, which offer smaller buy-ins and shorter running times. We provide an updated list of series events and daily tournaments below.
August 2023 Florida live poker tournaments
The Sunshine State has everything you need for tournament poker in August, regardless of what part of the state you’re in. Let’s dive into the month’s happenings.
2023 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open
Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood continues to distinguish itself as the premier tournament poker venue on the East Coast in 2023. Its self-branded Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) began this week with a $400 buy-in $1 million guarantee, setting the table for an even bigger August.
The series runs from through Aug. 8, boasting a 54-event schedule with multiple seven-figure guarantees. A few of August’s highlights include:
- July 31 – Aug. 2: $200 buy-in, $200K guaranteed (six starting flights)
- Aug. 2: $1,100 buy-in, $100K guaranteed
- Aug. 3: $2,200 buy-in, $200K guaranteed
- Aug. 4-8: $5,300 buy-in (Main Event), $3 million guaranteed
- Aug. 6-8: $2,700 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed
- Aug. 7-8: $1,100 buy-in, $500K guaranteed
- Aug. 7-8: $25,500 buy-in (High Roller), $2 million guaranteed

$1 million guaranteed at Harrah’s Florida State Poker Championship
The Florida State Poker Championship takes place from Aug. 9-20 at Harrah’s Pompano Beach, featuring nine events with over $1 million in guarantees.
Three six-figure guarantees sit on the schedule, including the $400 opening event runs Aug. 9-13, with eight starting flights and a $300K guaranteed prize pool.
The $1,700 Main Event has a $500K guarantee with three starting flights, one per day from Aug. 17-19 — all who advance return on Aug. 20 to play down to a winner.
CardPlayer Poker Tour returns to Jax
North Florida players can look forward to the esteemed CardPlayer Poker Tour’s annual stop to bestbet Jacksonville. This year’s festival begins on Aug. 10 and runs through Aug. 21.
The opening weekend features a $400 buy-in multi-flight $100K guarantee. Several $300 and $400 buy-in events follow throughout the week, including a Big O event on Aug. 15.
The Main Event begins on Aug. 17, with three starting flights and a $300K guarantee. With an ever-popular Mystery Bounty format, that guarantee should get crushed and make for a fun road to the final table, set to conclude on Aug. 21.
Moneymaker Tour visits Daytona Beach
Chris Moneymaker’s self-titled Moneymaker Tour will make its second stop at Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club, showing its early commitment to Florida poker. The series runs Aug. 17-28 with eight events and over $500K in guarantees.
The two weekends on the calendar each offer multi-flight events with guarantees to accompany them.
- Aug. 17-20: $500 buy-in, $200K guaranteed
- Aug. 24-28: $1,500 buy-in (Main Event), $300K guaranteed

Monthly guarantees
A slew of tournaments with $100K-plus prize pools runs each month in Florida. August is no different, with the following casinos running in-house guaranteed events throughout the month.
Palm Beach Kennel Club’s monthly $100K multi-flight event ($300 buy-in) starts on Aug. 5 and features five starting flights over three days. The field combines on Aug. 6, to play down to a winner.
Tampa takes center stage the following weekend with a pair of events. The Silk’s Poker Room at Tampa Bay Downs runs a $330 buy-in Mystery Bounty tournament with seven starting flights between Aug. 9 and Aug. 12. The room guarantees a $150K prize pool with $25K promised to the winner, determined on Aug. 13.
Seminole Hard Rock Tampa will compete with Silk’s on Aug. 12 for its monthly ($500 buy-in) one-day $100K guaranteed event. It will then run another $100K from Aug. 16-20, the $200 buy-in Little Slick event.
Lastly, Oxford Downs has a $200K guaranteed event starting Aug. 28. The tournament has a $160 buy-in and has 10 starting flights all week, wrapping up Labor Day Weekend on Sept. 3.
