People are getting very lucky at South Florida’s flagship casino. Recently, Hard Rock Hollywood crossed the $1 billion mark in jackpot money awarded this year.
Two weeks ago, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood made headlines. The first event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open set a Florida poker record for the largest field in state history.
It’s the second year in a row the casino’s patrons have won more than $1 billion in jackpots. Bo Guidry, president of the iconic guitar hotel, said the cumulative wins are just part of the casino’s desire to provide the “ultimate experience.”
“We pride ourselves in providing our guests the ultimate experience. When our players come to Seminole Hard Rock, they get lucky. Awarding $1 billion in jackpots in each of the last two years shows just how lucky they can get.”
More than 300,000 jackpots won so far in 2022
One billion dollars in jackpots is a sizeable number. To get a sense of the scale of that amount, Hard Rock Hollywood noted that the more than 311,750 jackpots won this year works out to an average of one jackpot win every 62 seconds.
The average jackpot size at the casino is $3,000. Members of the casino’s loyalty club, Wild Card, won around 90% of this year’s jackpots, according to Hard Rock Hollywood.
The casino underwent a considerable expansion in 2019. It now has more than 3,000 slot machines, many of which no doubt contributed to this year’s considerable jackpot numbers. Certain slots are linked to progressive jackpots and mega jackpots.
In January, one lucky gambler made headlines when she won a $1.33 million jackpot on a $250 bet playing Dragon Link. At the time, the win was the fourth $1 million jackpot to hit on Dragon Link in a span of 60 days.
Jackpot records set to fall by end of 2022
In 2021, Hard Rock Hollywood paid out $1.2 billion in jackpots for the entire year. The casino surpassed the $1 billion mark in November. It punctuated the moment by presenting a player with a $100,000 cash prize. For the year, players won around 420,000 jackpots.
Looking at 2022, the casino is positioned to obliterate its 2021 records. It will certainly pass the $1.2 billion mark within the next few months. The casino is on pace to pay out around $1.7 billion in jackpots. It’s averaged more than 44,000 jackpots per month this year. Last year, that average was around 35,000.
As staggering as Hard Rock Hollywood’s numbers are, it will have to close with some conviction if it wants to beat out its sister property in Tampa. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa players won more than $1.6 billion in jackpots in 2021. The Tampa property has an advantage over the Hollywood casino.
It has around 2,000 more slot machines.
