The Florida Lottery has been busy this summer.
The FL Lottery rolled out a new scratch-off game, Monopoly Bonus Spectacular. It offers more than $360 million in cash prizes, as well as a series of second-chance drawings with prizes as high as $20,000.
Monopoly Bonus Spectacular scratch-offs and second-chance drawings
Monopoly Bonus Spectacular is a scratch-off game that launched earlier this summer. The games are sold in $10, $5, $2, and $1 denominations.
In an interview with Jacksonville-based First Coast News, Florida Lottery District Manager John Beasley said the game offers substantial payouts.
“We are excited to introduce the Monopoly Bonus Spectacular (MBS) family of scratch off games. The four new games feature more than $360 million in cash prizes, including top prizes of $10,000 to $2 million.”
The game features a row of “Your Numbers” and a group of “Winning Numbers.”
Match any of the Your Numbers to the Winning Numbers, and you get a prize. The game includes a variety of multipliers, depending on how much the scratch-off costs.
Here is a list of the three multipliers available in the $10 game:
- A Mr. Monopoly symbol doubles the prize listed.
- A treasure chest symbol multiplies the listed prize by 10.
- A moneybag symbol multiplies the listed prize by 16.
Plus, each ticket — no matter the denomination — includes a bonus number that’s a winner if it matches any Winning Numbers.
Per the Florida Lottery, there are four $2 million tickets for $10 MBS scratch-offs. Only one of those four tickets was claimed as of Aug. 24.
Also, more than 400 of the $10 game’s $10,000 prizes were available at the beginning of the week.
Second-chance drawings
Not all hope is lost if a lottery player fails to win a prize on their ticket.
Players can download the Florida Lottery app, then scan their MBS ticket and be automatically entered into a series of drawings that started in July and go through September, Beasley said.
During each drawing, there will be three tiers of cash prizes:
- One person will win $20,000.
- 10 players will win $5,000.
- 30 players will win $1,000.
New Florida Lottery app
In addition to its MBS launch, the Florida Lottery recently debuted the newest version of its app.
In the new iteration, some of the new features include the following:
- Scan your ticket to see if you’re a winner.
- Enter second-chance drawings (like the one offered for MBS).
- See winning numbers.
- Find Florida Lottery locations.
- Get news and updates on scratch-off launches.
The timing of the launch is a smart one. Players have to use the app to enter the Monopoly Bonus Spectacular, so the Florida Lottery is likely to see an uptick in users.
Other scratch-off summer launches
In addition to Monopoly Bonus Spectacular, the lottery has launched five additional games:
- $5 20X Crossword (July 13 debut)
- $5 Bonus Triple Match (Aug. 17 debut)
- $3 Power Play Cashword (Aug. 17 debut)
- $2 Full of $200s (Aug. 17 debut)
- $1 Neon 7s (Aug. 17 debut)
All proceeds from Florida Lottery ticket sales go to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. State legislators then decide how to direct the money.
