The Florida Lottery is joining the 2026 Gift Responsibly Campaign and will share educational messages throughout November and December reminding families that lottery tickets are not gifts for children, according to Lake Okeechobee News.

The annual campaign, organized by the National Council on Problem Gambling with support from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, aims to raise awareness of youth gambling risks and encourage responsible holiday gift-giving.

Florida law prohibits the sale of lottery tickets to anyone under 18. The campaign’s message to gift-givers is that lottery products are intended for adults.

“Lottery games are designed to be entertainment for adults, and it’s important that we keep them that way,” Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon said. “As we celebrate the holiday season and spend time with the people who matter most, we encourage Floridians to be mindful of the gifts they give and help us reinforce the message that Lottery tickets are not for children.”

Florida Gaming Control Commission Executive Director Alana Zimmer also supported the campaign, emphasizing families’ role in preventing underage gambling.

“Protecting Florida’s children from the potential harms of underage gambling is a responsibility we all share,” Zimmer said. “The holidays are an opportunity to remind families that gambling products are intended for adults.”

The Lottery will distribute the educational messaging through its social media channels as part of its ongoing responsible-play and public-education efforts.
