Prediction-market traders on Aug. 11 were concentrating on two very different storylines: whether the U.S. will announce an end to its Iranian blockade, and whether Jeff Bezos will be announced as a Liverpool Football Club owner in 2026.

According to TheLines, the heaviest attention on Polymarket and Kalshi was tied to U.S.-Iran developments, with traders showing little confidence that any blockade announcement is imminent.

Polymarket prices show skepticism on a near-term Iran shift

The source says Donald Trump announced last month that the U.S. was reinstating a naval blockade of Iran, while Iran responded by arranging a new deal with Oman to allow ships through new passages.

On Polymarket, the market "US announces end of Iranian blockade by:" was priced as follows:

  • Aug. 11: Yes 0.7¢, No 99.4¢
  • Aug. 15: Yes 7¢, No 94¢
  • Aug. 22: Yes 19¢, No 82¢
  • Dec. 31: Yes 79¢, No 21¢

Those prices suggest traders were overwhelmingly doubtful about a quick reversal, while assigning a much higher chance that an announcement could come later in the year.

For gambling-industry readers, the takeaway is less about making a pick and more about how prediction markets are pricing headline risk in real time. The market can move sharply as new reporting or official statements emerge.

Bezos-Liverpool market jumps from last month

The other market highlighted in the report involved Jeff Bezos and Liverpool FC. The article says Bezos is reportedly leading a consortium seeking a minority stake in the club, alongside Amit Bhatia and Eduardo Saverin.

Polymarket’s market on whether Bezos will be "Announced as Liverpool owner in 2026" was listed at Yes 77¢ and No 24¢, up from 12¢ on the Yes side last month.

TheLines noted that Bezos had previously stepped away from possible purchases of the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders. It also said the Liverpool market must resolve by Dec. 31 for Polymarket to settle that contract.

What to watch next

The key thing for readers to watch is not a Florida-specific change, but whether these markets keep gaining traction as a form of gambling-adjacent news tracking. Near term, any official U.S. announcement related to the Iran blockade, or any verified ownership news involving Liverpool and Bezos, would likely be the next event to move pricing.
