Three people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery outside a Tampa hotel after the victim met one of the suspects at Seminole Hard Rock Casino, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the victim returned to an Extended Stay America on East Sligh Avenue after meeting Angelina Johnson at the casino. In the hotel parking lot, Johnson, Mario Dejournett and Tyrik Griffin approached the victim, and deputies said Dejournett and Griffin displayed firearms before robbing him of his jewelry and wallet.
All three suspects then fled, authorities said.
What deputies say happened
The sheriff’s office said detectives later identified the three suspects and obtained arrest warrants.
Johnson, 20, and Dejournett, 22, were arrested by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. Griffin, 22, was later arrested by the same agency and is set to be transferred to Hillsborough County, according to authorities.
All three suspects were charged with robbery with a firearm involving property valued at $750 or more but less than $20,000.

The case does not allege wrongdoing by Seminole Hard Rock Casino. The venue appears in the investigation because deputies said the victim first met Johnson there before returning to his hotel.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister called it “a coordinated, violent crime that left the victim shaken and robbed at gunpoint.” He added that, with help from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, “all three suspects have been identified and taken into custody.”
Authorities did not state whether the victim was injured, whether any property was recovered, or when the suspects will next appear in court.
